How to use Blower

Blower (Hot Air Gun)

Blower is a heating machine which is used in mobile for mounting and removing of ICs as well as S.M.Ds. It is a rectangular / square box mostly black in color. It is the main tool along with the soldering iron for repairing mobile phones.
The cost of blower ranges from Rs.1200/- to Rs.4000/-. We suggest you to buy original As shown in the picture there are mainly four knobs
1. Air Knob
2. Heater Switch
3. Voltage Button
4. Micro Soldering iron
Also on left side of blower from panel there is a micro solder pin socket where we can insert solder iron pin (plug). There are four LED indicators – one for Air, second for heater, third for voltage and forth for micro iron. If any of the LED is off means function representing that LED is not working. There is a big On/Off button for switching the blower On and Off. There is one fuse in blower. If it blows off, blower will go in dead condition. There is also one socket inside that we can fix soldering handle. This soldering handle is made of metallic rod with rubber coated from outside. Inside the metallic rod there is one heater coil. After switching ‘ON’ blower, supply reaches to heater coli and finally it emits heat required for soldering and desoldering of ICs and SMDs.
Micro Iron Button
It is a variable resistor used for varying wattage of iron from 1 to 8. On the left side of micro iron button, there is plug which is used for fixing soldering iron. Soldering iron is used for making jumpers connections, give touch up to parts and soldering and desoldering SMDs.
Voltage Button (Zhatka)
It is variable resistor used to vary voltage and also for giving zhata to battery. Below this knob there are two sockets – red (+ve) and black (-ve). When the battery of mobile phones gets completed discharged and does not charge through battery, mostly the battery is believed to be completely drained out. The above sockets are used to give a very high voltage to battery, so that the battery gets slightly charged up and later it can be charged through charger.
Air Button
It is the most important button in blower. It is used to control the flow of air while soldering or desoldering of ICs and SMDs. For soldering / desoldering different components, the settings of the blower has to be different.
Resistors, Capacitors etc – Air knob between 2 to 3 so that SMDs should not fly away and don’t get burnt.
For removing ICs, air must be in between 3 to 4.
Heater Button
Heater button is another one of the most important switch present in blower machine. It is a variable resistor by varying which we can vary the heat of blower coming of the metal rod of handle. While removing components, we have certain settings for ICs and SMDs.
For ICs we have to keep the heater button normally between 4 to 5 so that ICs don’t get burnt.
For SMDs heater button must be between 3 to 4 so that SMDs does not get flown away. For PA (Power Amplifier) heater button must be between 5 to 6.
Precautions
There are some precautions to be taken while using blower.
1. Don’t keep blower always on i.e for full day. Keep it Off after work is done. Keeping the blower on continuously may damage the coil and blower can go down.
2. Don’t vary knobs of heater and blower more that mentioned above. Coil of blower will get damaged.
3. Always use some good quality flux around ICs and SMDs while soldering/ desoldering, then adjust the knob of heater as well as Air as per mentioned above so that we can easily remove or fix ICs and SMDs
